With summer in full swing, there’s no better time to enjoy deliciously cold ice cream. But with some of the hottest days and warmest nights still ahead, enjoying a tasty treat before it becomes a sweet, creamy puddle can be a delectable challenge.

A challenge accepted without hesitation! We’ll do whatever it takes to keep our favorite flavors frozen all summer long. Here are four tips for keeping your favorite summer treat cold. (Read quickly—your ice cream’s melting!)

Chill Your Sundae Dish

Kick things up a notch and serve your ice cream in a chilled or frosty ice cream sundae dish. A chilled dish helps your ice cream stay colder longer so you can enjoy your tasty treat in its most delectable form. Simply place your dish in the freezer for 30-60 minutes, add a scoop (or two) of your favorite flavor and enjoy every frozen, flavorful bite!

Use a Pint Koozie

Who said koozies are just for drinks? Not us! This remarkable invention keeps your ice cream cold just a little longer so you can take time to enjoy every bite. Pint-sized koozies are easy to find online, but if you’re really crafty, you can sew or knit your own. And as an added bonus, koozies are perfect for marking your ice cream territory and avoiding any mix-ups!

Go Colder with Dry Ice

Dry ice, which is actually frozen carbon dioxide, works wonders! With twice the cooling power of regular ice, dry ice will keep your favorite frozen flavor from becoming a sweet, sticky mess on a hot summer day at the beach or park. Best of all, you can buy dry ice in most grocery stores or other specialty stores in your neighborhood, all which charge by the pound. It’s affordable—you don’t need much dry ice to keep a carton cold.

But remember—handle with care! Wear protective gear, such as gloves, when handling dry ice to avoid freezer burn, and be sure not to throw leftover dry ice in your trash or sink. Find more dry ice safety tips here.

Eat Quickly

Your ice cream won’t melt if you eat it fast enough! Whether you’re eating straight from the carton or out of a crunchy cone, indulging in your favorite treat quickly will ensure you don’t end up crying over melted ice cream.
