PATRIOTIC RECIPES TO MAKE YOUR HOLIDAY POP

July 2, 2020

We’re always dreaming of ways to make the most of every moment, from birthdays to family dinners, and of course, July 4th. This year, we planned to make America’s birthday extra special with our Limited Edition American Fireworks ice cream. The exciting new popping candies are a first-time ingredient on our flavor list, and we can’t say no to a sour cherry swirl – making this tart, crackling ice cream one of the most fitting flavors for the summer!

While this summer’s celebrations might look a little different than expected, we’re looking on the bright side, which of course means more ice cream. With help from some of our friends, we’ve put together a list of four incredible patriotic recipes – all with a little salute to America’s 244th birthday and our American Fireworks flavor. Make one, two, or all four recipes for a poppin’ July 4th you’ll never forget.

Red White and Blue Ice Cream Cake

If you’re serving a few friends in a socially distant way this Independence Day, Lori at Foxes Loves Lemons has you covered with this festive ice cream cake! The serving size is big enough for a crowd, and the assembly is no sweat! This recipe uses our Limited Edition American Fireworks ice cream, but Creamery Blend Vanilla, Limited Edition Blueberry Cobbler or Black Cherry are also great options to keep within the color theme. Topped with blueberries, raspberries and sprinkles, this dessert has layer after layer to live up to its spirited name.

Patriotic Ice Cream Parfaits

Fresh fruit, pound cake, ice cream – it doesn’t get any sweeter, or any easier. If you’re looking for an option that’s fun to put together and doesn’t require a ton of prep time, this recipe is for you. Sarah at Chef Next Door shares this delicious Patriotic Ice Cream Parfait recipe that’s super customizable and takes mere minutes to assemble. Start with a clear glass, so you can see every layer. Add a few pound cake cubes (store-bought is fine!), then top with two scoops of American Fireworks Ice Cream (or another favorite flavor!), and a handful of blueberries, strawberries and raspberries. Repeat if you want more layers. Top it off with whipped cream and red and blue sprinkles.

Fourth of July Ice Cream Pie

We’re all about recipes that require a few steps and no oven needed, especially when there are 90-degree days in the forecast. Our friend Beth at The First Year will have you waving your flags high with this ice cream pie recipe. Decked out in red, white and blue, this layered pie can be prepared up to five days ahead of time and come out of the freezer just as good as the day you made it. Can you say #momwin?! Check out the recipe’s assembly in this video!

DIY Bomb Pops

If you have time to plan ahead for your weekend celebration, Detroit Mom has a recipe sure to make your holiday gathering cooler than ever! If the Fourth of July is the epitome of summer, then Bomb Pops are the epitome of nostalgia – we can practically hear the ice cream truck now. Using fun and fruity flavors perfect for summer including our Limited Edition Blueberry Cobbler and American Fireworks (plus a little patience), these homemade bomb pops are a fun and festive recipe option everyone will love, especially the kiddos and the young at heart!
