American Fireworks Meringue Recipe

Meringues require a little time and patience, but paired with a scoop of our Limited Edition American Fireworks, you’ve got the recipe to add extra sparkle to your summer days.

Meringue Shell Ingredients

  • 3 large eggs
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 teaspoon cream of tartar
  • 3/4 cup sugar

Method

  • 1)

Place egg whites in a small bowl and let stand at room temperature for 30 minutes.

  • 2)

Add vanilla extract and cream of tartar, then use a mixer on medium speed until soft peaks form.

  • 3)

Gradually beat in sugar, 1 tablespoon at a time, on high until the sugar dissolves and the mixture begins to form stiff glossy peaks.

  • 4)

Drop 8 equal mounds on a parchment-lined baking sheet, about 3 inches in diameter, pressing small centers into each mound with the back end of a spoon.

  • 5)

Bake at 225° until shells are set and dry – approximately 60-90 minutes.

  • 6)

Turn oven off; leave meringues in the oven for 1 hour.

  • 7)

Remove from oven and cool on wire racks.

  • 8)

When you’re ready to serve, fill each shell with a heaping scoop of Hudsonville American Fireworks ice cream.

  • 9)

Garnish with pop rocks, and maybe some sparklers if you really want to wow your guests!

  • 10)

Store any remaining shells in an airtight container.
